[Character name] Hiro Kageyama
[Age] 18
[Canon] Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2
[Point in time taken from canon] 6th Day, before the route split.
[Background]
[Personality]
So yes, Hiro is actually quite social and enjoys being around other people. He can read the atmosphere and has absolutely no problems with joking around to lighten the conversation, often taking jokes or ideas other people have set up and running with it. One example of this is when someone tells him to wish something smaller temporarily so he can transport it somewhere. How he voices said wish? "Grow smaaaaller! ♪" Hiro then goes on to jokingly say the exact same line again later when, of course, he needs it to return to its original large size. This happens close to frequently with him. He loooooves them jokes. At the same time, however, he is prudent enough to know when he absolutely has to be serious (such as during Septentrion fights) and when it's better to just walk away and leave people be. He recognizes that people do need their time alone and is willing to respect that. Plus, there are times when he will simply walk away from the conversation because he would rather not get caught up in whatever is going on and get dragged into something he would rather avoid.
Even under great pressure, Hiro remains able to stay calm and think fast on his feet, qualities that combine with his social savvy into great leadership skills. He can easily inspire trust and respect in others by virtue of his ability to get things done and listening to what others have to say, despite his predilection towards goofiness. And as long as he has a goal in mind, he will push towards it with all he's got. Nothing stops him for very long, and his determination to not fall into despair keeps him going even in the face of horrible news, which also allows him to encourage others to keep going too, despite all odds. Part of his determination comes from his strong pride though; he hates to lose. Hiro simply doesn't want to let himself and others down if he can help it.
Despite what other people say, however, Hiro doesn't really consider himself a leader-type. He can even sound surprised at being considered one if it's brought up early on. If anything, he considers himself a mediator and confidant when it comes to others.
While Hiro may be a natural leader, he also happens to be a space case with a love for jokes and silliness. The sight of him mercilessly teasing people simply for laughs and giggles is actually pretty common. He seems to enjoy actively getting reactions out of people and getting them to either play the straight man to his antics or join in on the fun. Sometimes it feels like he actually has to hold himself back from making snarky comments or saying things like "can't be helped" when it isn't entirely appropriate for the situation. People sometimes have to tell him to stop with the jokes, such as when he plays along with Fumi asking what the "love call" from Yamato was about, saying that "[Yamato] said he liked [him]". Hinako plays the straight man here and tells him to be serious and tell the group what Yamato actually said, which he promptly does.
Also, Hiro seems to be fond of running
When it comes to people he's known for a while though (the example used here is his childhood friend Daichi), his jokes are far more pointed and sometimes even comes off as surprisingly malicious. It isn't because he dislikes Daichi (the opposite actually), they've just been friends for so long that he knows they can take potshots at the other's expense and neither of them would hold it against each other. He can be snappy towards Daichi when he's frustrated with his behavior or trying to play the part of the straight man, but he does genuinely worry about his well-being, not that he'd outright say it most of the time. He's weirdly tsundere like that, even to the extent that he'd tell him to shut up after a certain incident with Io, basically saying that Daichi shouldn't have been so worried since it's obviously a given that Io would have been okay. A harsh yet silly way to put it, especially since he himself was incredibly worried about Io too.
Not all of his goofiness is forced though. Quite a bit of it is Hiro being a natural airhead who approaches everything at his own pace. Example? He has willingly met people alone at night when asked to (with demons to summon, but still). While none of the people he met up with are antagonistic towards him, it's not rare for demons to suddenly appear and attack others, a possibility he does not seem to mind at all. Probably because he's confident enough in himself to think that he'll be okay. And also because he can survive any fights that come his way thanks to his ability to adapt quickly in battle and his surprisingly sharp intuition as a tamer, especially considering he only became got his Devil Summoner App at the beginning of the week. Even so, the decision to meet someone alone at night isn't exactly the most down-to-earth one he's ever made.
Speaking of decisions, rather than make plans from scratch himself, Hiro tends to be more comfortable with taking information from others and helping those plans bear fruit. He can act competently on his own and find ways to resolve the situation as necessary, but when it comes to ideas and plans, he usually ends up leaving it to others. But nevertheless, people seem to think he's suited for a leadership role, so he does try to live up to their expectations in his own way. In the end, however, he's really just going through things mostly at the beat of his own drum and it just so happens he's acting as a field leader along the way.
As a side note, Hiro's fond of rabbits. He totally chose female Tico because of her bunny motif.
[Abilities]
His skills are listed below, and cannot be changed while in Somarium on top of being nerfed. Also, his demon partners and their nerfed skills will be elaborated on in the next section. And to be clear, a team in this game means three beings.
Command Skills:
Holy Dance -
Drain - Happily (?) steals HP and MP from his enemies, nfufufufu...
Prayer - Heals his team or one closeby for
Passive Skills:
Leader's Soul - If the hit won't be a mortal blow to him, he'll take any hit meant for his demons if it would otherwise take them out of commission.
Null Phys - Nulls physical attacks! Except for the part where it doesn't in Somarium. It does lessen the damage though.
Endure - Will survive any one attack that would kill him with 1 HP, ahahahaha! ...Can be bypassed using multi-hit skills.
Auto Skill:
N/A - Nope, sorry! Hiro's equipped Auto Skill has mysteriously been unequipped and disappeared, much to his chagrin.
As seen from above, he is very much oriented towards magic, particularly those of the Almighty and healing classes. While he does pack a huge punch with his magic, he cannot exploit weaknesses alone, so he cannot use Extra Turns—an extra attack one could do if they hit an enemy with their weakness. This can really screw him over if he's alone, and the enemy has Almighty resistance and hits hard. And thanks to his low Vitality and Strength, he can't take too many hits or do any decent physical damage. He is, however, quite speedy and quick on his feet.
[Other important stuff]
[Jack Frost]
Ice Dance -
Mabufu - Low Ice damage to all foes in a team, with a small chance of freezing them.
Diarama - Restores a low to somewhat moderate amount of HP to one ally.
Passive Skills:
Anti-Ice - Lessens Ice damage by half, but this skill is overwritten by his natural abiility to drain Ice damage and heal his HP from it.
Ice Boost - Raises his Ice damage by
Mana Surge - Raises his Max MP by 30%. Basically he can cast a little more spells than he normally could otherwise.
Race Skill:
Glamour - Heals one team for a low amount of HP
Jack Frost, in addition to the above, drains ice spells (but recovers less HP than he normally would) but is weak to fire spells. Personality-wise, he's very much like a tiny Hiro if he was more hyper and had a verbal tic of saying hee-ho constantly. So yes, he's very cheerful and energetic. They get along extremely well because of this. Maybe a little too well. Anyway, much to the annoyance of those around them, Jack Frost and Hiro tend to help each other with each other's pranks. And just to note, Hiro tends to copy Jack Frost's hee-hos whenever he talks to him.
[Purple Mirror]
Judgement -
Makarakarn -
Passive Skills:
Hero Soul - Will protect Hiro from a hit that would otherwise be a mortal blow to him.
Race Skill:
Possession - Slows enemies down
Despite Hiro's efforts, in Somarium, Purple Mirror can only reflect fire, ice, lightning, and curse damage at around 25% or less of the original attack's damage. It is very, very weak towards physical and force damage. He will be shocked to learn this, that's for sure! Even so, it remains the team tank. Personality-wise, Purple Mirror is quite calm in any situation and just as loyal to Hiro as his other demon...and a bit of a mother hen. A mother hen that constantly says that anyone who remembers it by the age of 20 will have misfortune befall them, but still. Hiro usually refers to Purple Mirror as female, which it is fine with. He also likes referencing it during his horror stories.

Where's the drill?
Oh no! Someone tripped and injured themselves right in front of you! What do you do?
Point and laugh. (If it's Daichi or Airi, I mean.) Then help them up and get out the first aid kit if they need it.
Do you prefer the city or living out in the country? Why?
I prefer the hustle and bustle of the city. As for why... I was raised in one. Guess I'm just too used to noise now.
What is more important to you: having friends or living on your own? Why?
Having friends, hands down. There's only so much you can do by yourself.
You are a given a mission. Would you complete it effectively or would you goof off and do something else? Expand a little on the response.
Why can't I sort of do both? I can complete it effectively while goofing off and having a blast. That works too, right?
Oh look, there's a double rainbow!
Rainbow! ♪
...Hm? You thought I'd look? Too bad, so sad, try again next week!
You have two options: either save your friend who is hanging from a cliff, or chase after the bad guy who put them in a position. If you choose the former, the bad guy will get away and it will be hard to catch him. If you choose the latter, the cliff will crumble and the friend will fall to the spiky rocks below. What do you do and why?
Save my friend, of course. There's no way I'll leave them hanging like that. I can always sneak up on the bad guy later...after my friend is safe.
Will you make a contract with me? /人 ◕ ‿‿ ◕ 人\
Depends. Do you have cookies?
[Third Person]
That afternoon, Hiro decided in hindsight that maybe just one umbrella did not suffice, especially when it turned out he should have expected strong winds too. He turned the umbrella around to access the damage, carefully avoiding touching the tips so he would not prick himself. Sure, the umbrella did need to be replaced sooner or later, but the wind should not have broken it this badly. But there was no time to dwell on that. The longer he stayed outside without the help of an umbrella, the more drenched he got. And after a few minutes, he could not say it was a very pleasant feeling. Best to get to dry land as quickly as possible before it had an adverse effect on his health.
On the bright side, at least his rain jacket had a hood.
Adjusting his hood so it would not slip, Hiro looked around at his surroundings. Dimly lit street with the occasional flickering light, biting cold that made him shiver every once in a while, and houses that looked like they could have been transplanted there directly from a hodgepodge of horror movies. Certainly a wonderful place to have your parade rained upon. How did he even make his way here in the first place? (Answer: exploring.)
Anyway, as much as he'd rather to stop somewhere dry and wait for the rain to stop, perhaps asking the inhabitants of a house with blood-looking stains on the window would not be a very prudent decision. Same with that house next to it with boarded up windows. Or that house with the lopsided lawn gnome on its doorstep. As he looked at that last house, he tilted his head to the side to get a better look at the gnome. And he started to stare. And stared some more. Then for a short moment, Hiro thought it might have leaned a little more to the left to match him. But as fitting as that would be in this atmosphere, he decided not to mind it too much, keeping his poker face in place. Maybe it would lean back to its original angle then. Or perhaps it would stand upright instead. It would look more welcoming that way, he thought. And plus, it would add a slight touch of "not creepy beyond all belief" that the house sorely needed.
But back to the matter at hand. He needed to get to shelter before he caught a cold. If he still wanted to take a look around after the rain stopped, he can always come back later. After all, this might be a good spot for a test of courage. Once he checked it out, asked around as necessary and made some special modifications, he could call some friends over and get out the popcorn. Haunted houses made for some interesting bonding experiences after all, right?
While a plan brewed around in his mind, Hiro ran off in search for safer shelter, whistling and humming all the while. Just because his umbrella broke during a rain day did not automatically mean today had to be awful. And since today did not have to be awful, he decided he might as well have fun anyway. In any case, there really is no need to be gloomy.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Partly because I'm easily enabled, and mostly because I've been interested in Somarium for a while and finally decided on a character to attempt to join in with!
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] Lock mature content! I don't need any details about how rod A fits in slot B, etc. 8D;
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] A combination of friends and ATP!
[Any questions?] Nope, I don't think so!
